Maple Cuttings

Post by colin »

Sorry, not sure if this is in the right place? Didn't know where else to ask?
I distantly remember last year somebody? Bob Hart? Asking about cuttings or seeds, and asked a member on here for her expert advice?
Well I would like to take a cutting from some of my maples and try to get them to grow on.... Just wondering the best way to go about this. Go easy on me though.... :) Only just getting the hang of growing on Koi... lol. 8)

Maples tend to be grafted as they are easier to cultivate on a commercial basis using a more vigorous rootstock. I've never heard of cuttings working but you could try softwood cuttings now on a heated propagator or small hardwood cuttings later in the year.
