it seems to be going to plan. its very hard to gauge exactly how much water is being moved through the filters. as you say it looks like quite a bit.

the pond is now running on four air pumps (because thats what we had). three koiair 25 and an EA airtech 80, meaning a total wattage of 140watts/hr
thats one koiair 25 per K1 filter barrel and the EA 80 for the uplift tubes on both filter systems.
i'll get some pictures of the filters later in the week.

here goes nothing then:- i hope it makes sence

the main filter.
first the water flows through the large 42"dia vortex with a homemade static K1 eazy bin.
second the water flows through the first of two brown 220ltr barrels(static at the moment but can be fluidised).
third is the second 220ltr barrel with fluidised K1
then it flows to the black box where the nine uplift tubes lift the water and return it to the pond (just like havig a pump)

the skimmer filter.
water enters the skimmer box through a variable height wier with a mesh front
it then flows through the big green butt fitted with a static K1 stainless wash drum eazy conversion
it then flows through a red 220ltr barrel with fluidised K1
then it flows to the black box where the nine uplift tubes lift the water and return it to the pond (just like havig a pump)

total volume of pond and filters 3150 gallons

oh and Gazza he is about a foot long.

Hi,

I'm thinking of using airlifts for my pond so just a couple of questions if I may.

Are you using 1.5" or 2" pipe and what sort of air stones do you have in them?

Thanks

1.5" pipe for the uplift tubes, they are 18" long. and the airstones are the cheapy small aquarium ones.
