yamitsu uv

Post by koikoi »

My friend just asked can he put a 55 watt UV bulb in a 30 watt yamitsu UV?
I said to him"How do I know"......"but I know where to find out" :wink:

Thanks

my opinion would be NO.
the power unit on the UV is made for 30watt tubes and would be unable to ignite and run a 55watt tube

.... the 55W electrics is available here, you could then replace the 30W internals with the 55W.

http://www.boddingtonkoi.com/yamitsu-uv-spares_1527.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

but I'm not sure it's worth the effort when a new one is only a fraction mor expensive.

ps. I thought you were coming around?

Am I mistaken or isn't a 55 watt tube LONGER than a 30 watt tube? IOW would it even fit?

Hi all I have a Yamitsu 30w and it has been running a 55w tube for the last 2 years with no problems
it switches on immediately and has kept me algae free
the tubes are the the same length

B Scott, all my research indicates that the only difference in two units is the electrics and the bulb .... housing etc is exactly the same :wink:
