If i understand the question correctly you are laying 18" x 9" blocks laid flat so i assume you mean 18" x 9" x 4" blocks laid the 4" high way in which case i work it out to be 21.6 blocks per metre or have i missed something here Of course Thorny is correct if you are laying them 18" x 9" high. vimes... that's how I built my pond as it's the only way I was confident of laying the blocks as I'm not a bricky.... unfortunately the pond is up and running(rendered, glassed etc) so I couldn't tell you how many blocks per sq mtr..... anyway, it's built like an air raid shelter..... good luck and post some pics of progress.
