Silver Nitrate - What Strength?

Post by blemmy »

Hi Ladies and Gents,

I have some 99.9% Silver Nitrate powder.

Could someone please advise me as to the strength/concentration of Silver Nitrate to be used on Koi, e.g. against Dermocystidium or fin rot? :?

Many thanks

hi there

I don't use it for fin rot but its very useful for dermo

I don't measure it out I get a small amount on a scalpel blade from my jar pop it into a small glass tub and use a pipette and add a few drops of water till its dissolved

I suppose I should measure it but I don't use it that often so I suppose its roughly a 3 to one mix 1 SN to 3 water

have a play around with it when you use it wear gloves if its splashes your skin it will go black and an open wound on koi will discolour grey to dark grey< temp>

if you have not read it already go here and follow the thread to silver nitrate at the end http://www.koiquest.co.uk/forum/viewtop ... 29&t=11325
