too clean

Post by Duncan »

heres a thing I never thought I would say

just set my big marine tank up ion the conservatory now its finished, got it running nice for a week, started the protein skimmer off, PO4 reactor going and the NO3 reactor miracle mud in, jobs a good un, and my transferred my media and my live rock, then transferred the coral's and the fish and shrimp

set my aqua illumination lights up, chiller and off we go

but my corals are shrinking back to a fraction of their former size
my readings are
ammonia , zero, no2 zero, no3 zero, po4 zero KH 18gdh pH 8.0 magnesium 1300ppm calcium 390ppm in short perfect

turns out my tank is too perfect, to clean, I have had to turn the PO4 and NO3 reactor off to get some readings

lets hope it not to late and they pick up

on the plus side my emperor angel is looking great

How did they all go on Duncan?
I have been keeping a 250litre Marine tank for over 3 years now, what i would give to have water close to too clean, it seems like a constant battle with one thing or another. The auto doser of DKH and Calcium has worked wonders though.
Hope the Corals were all ok. Hows about a few pics of yours?
Cheers
James
