Dave,

Just a quick word about flow rates. If the only reason you're selling this is because the flow rate through the heater is too fast, flow rates are not hard and fast rules with heat pumps, there is a degree of latitude. But if you particularly would like a slower flow rate, you could fit a bypass around the heater with a gate valve to bypass any percentage of water that you want.

EG, with a seven turn gate valve, each full turn from fully open to fully closed gives (near as dammit) a 15% reduction in flow through a bypass. There will be a slight bit of tweaking required to make up for the fact that there is unlikely to be exactly the same number of bends and pipe length in both paths but 15 % per turn won't be far out.

Thanx for the info ive got a valve on the outlet and created a by pass but i thought why not just reduce power of pump and have full flow going through it this will give the contact time needed between water and heat exchanger better pressure in the heat pump as its not flowing through as fast giving me better heating capacity from the heat pump and im not having so much water un heated by passing the unit then thanx though for your kind advice got a new pump now hence the sale of the 12000s
