I have to say as a keeper who currently has no window  , that you get a much better and more interesting view through the glass.

I have to make do with looking from above, but it's incredible how much colour and depth you miss just looking from above..... Jules get the digger !

I think we should have a section on Pond's built by Bob, he sure does do us proud, it was Bob's idea for my window and I am so glad he thought of it, brilliant thought brilliant design and brilliant watching, but I can't make my mind up who is watching who
I love the photo's Graham :D

Kim,

I have a feeing that the koi are watching themselves. I don't have a lintel on my window so I can easily pop my head round the other side of the glass and it looks more like a mirror from the other side, at least from above the water it does anyway. I haven't put my head under the water to check though, maybe when the water gets warmer. :D

Maybe Jules can tell us.

:)

Windows in ponds are brilliant they give a totally different perspective to your koi.

Yes you can see through the window like you can see the koi they too can see us looking at them. It is a pain as I can't check my hair when below the water line as the "mirror" finish is no longer there

Some fintastic shots there. Maybe I can have a new pond with viewscreen if/when we move (a condition of me agreeing to move? :D ).
I do think that the window is an asset to taming fish. The goldfish in my aquarium watch me as I move around the room, they always come to the corner of the tank nearest me when they want feeding.
I hold the flakes about 1/2" above the water & they will come out for them.
Strange thing is, when I put my biggest in the pond, it suddenly went all shy on me & it's taken a while to get it tame

Hi John
Talking of building a new pond already!!!!!!!
Ok it is when you move but what an opportunity, trial thing's
on your pond now and work out what work's then when you move
go for the big one
The only bit of advice I would give anyone building a new pond
is work out exactly what you want and where you can have it.
On the last day of Bob being here he thought that a second window
would of been a good idea which agreed it would but we didn't think
about it at the time, but having one window is the brilliant, the pond
is being treated for blanket weed at the moment but as soon as it is clear
I will get some more photos :D

Yes, the OH has her eye on a house ATM but I'm not prepared to pay the asking price - I'm prepared to offer £25k less (and that will still be £20k dearer than the best price anybody has sold for in that area (January, house approx 200 yards away).
OH wanted a pond at ground level but I've persuaded her to have something raised up - maybe go for loads of windows :P
I'm trying not to seem too keen but I've already thought about digging just behind the garage (somewhere to house the filters etc :D

I do think those windows give an absolutely fantastic view of some really gorgeous fish.

Hi Guys,

Newbie here so pls be gentle  I have to agree with everyone having windows in pond that's why when I built mine I gotta have windows. Now I don't need to look over the wall to see my fish. I just sit on my chair with coffee or beer :P to enjoy them even more. Also its good to check for physical probs like ulcers, etc, etc. :D
