Do they do drill bits that small? I need to have a good scout around the DIY shops it seems.

Another question Bob - are you saying you would have made it all out of hosepipe in hindsight?

Yes Ted - especially as I already had a spare 10m of garden hose lying around that had never been used!

I just fitted mine. Drilled 1mm holes every other mark of the speedfit pipe, which is 2 inches. I used the rigid pipe for the main rings and used garden hose from these to the air pump. Works a treat.

Hi Guys one thing to remember is some garden hose is not fish safe and can lead to problems when in the water, similar to the ones which you should not use for filling you pond with.

You need the food grade stuff.

I remember a guy who was testing his water and wondered what was wrong,it was the hose pipe he was using that was causing all the problems!!!

This also happened recently to a guy testing ORP and when he removed the pipe he noticed the difference but cant remember the pipe...Geoff what pipe was it please????

Leave some hose out over night and then test the water in the morning,if its left out in the summer you may be surprised at what you find

so the cheap yellow hose for homebase is not any good. I'll change it to speedfit pipe whilst i'm cleaning the filters.

thanks

Interesting Gazza!

Never heard of it, but will need to keep a very close eye on the fish from now on.

When you mention leaving it out in the summer, are you suggesting that it breaks down or leaches chemicals if exposed to the sun, or is it a case of bacteria breeding in the hose?

Sorry if I've mislead any of you guys.

That's exactly what I used Ted.

So far, so good. No sign of any problems yet - but I'll keep watching following Gazza's advice.

I can not for the life of me remember which one gave the worse results but i do remember one of them was the hose that had a rubber inside of it.

I think the hozelock one is OK!!
