The space available is little bigger than the cartridge filter, so not a chance, must be hydro sized or I might squeeze a small sieve if enough opinions preferred that.

Chi,

Do you wish to replace this because of the high maintenance as being on a skimmer there will always be some to do??

This is most probably a silly question but is it possible to pack it with K1??

As it's a pressurised system I cannot perceive benefits from K1 deployment, though I reserve the right to be wrong!

It's purely the fact that I have to clean 4 cartridges per week in the summer and 1.5 perweek in the winter, each taking some 10 minutes to clean with a pressure washer, excluding setup and clean up time. Which is why I'm thinking sieve or Hydro, as both are easily cleaned in a few minutes. The hydro can even be set up with a backlflush system with a little planning.

If I wished to move the pipework I could use my own design of sediment trap filter, which offers very low maintenance with very good performance, but I'd need to use at least a 50 gallon tank and can't fit one in.

Well it looks like the sieve or hydro win hands down if there is no room for anything.
