dechlorinators

Post by tricky dicky »

Hi all, just finished building a 2000 gallon pond looking to put 10" 3 cartridge dechlorinator on, just wondered what others are using as I'm new to koi
Thanks Richard

There is a great variability with different types of activated carbon so, with cartridge filters you pretty much get what you pay for Richard.

The cheaper units tend to use cheap activated carbon in their cartridges and the flow rate through them for complete dechlorination tends to be very slow. I bought mine years ago from Ann Telford at All Clear Water Purifiers (link below). They ain't cheap but the cartridges last for a long time and the flow rates are good. For normal topping up for evaporation loss etc. I use my cartridge filter turned down to a slow rate but for larger changes I use sodium thiosulphate and a hose. I made a table of dosage rates for using sodium thiosulphate either directly as dry crystals or as a pre-prepared dechlorinator solution.
