Brine shrimp eggs

Post by DidIdothat »

How long can I keep brine shrimp eggs? I have a 1kg bag opened and only a tablespoon used. Will it keep til next year?
Also I failed miserably this year with hatching brine shrimps and devoted most of my time to dapnia. has anyone a foolproof way of hatching these little blighters?
I used a gallon bottle upside down with a heater and an airstone planted inside and ended up with a mucky gooey mess after a couple of days.

I open a packet last year, which I kept in the fridge in an airtight container and it worked ok this year.

In the wild brine shimp (artemia) can remain doemant for hundreds of years. What changes is the hatch rate. New eggs will have greater number of fry hatching than older eggs. No reason to toss them out just expect slightly fewer fry.
