Re: Kim R's new pond build

Bit of a shock today though, Kim said the rented house she is staying in has been sold this week. So I may be dismantalling the pond a few weeks after I get it running.

Bummer I thought Kim was settled there really sorry to hear this :(

Re: koi health couse

For anyone who has not done this course I can highly recommend it,it will change the way you look at Koi health and give you a great deal of confidence when treating your Koi for any health problems.

Re: flukes

Hi Peter no problem always happy to help when possible. One thing I forgot to add was that in trials where Tric were present in enough numbers that a dose of PP was needed 25/30 on a slide, after using Fluke-solve the numbers of Tric were greatly reduced on four Koi scraped only 3 Tric were found so ...

Re: flukes

Hi I was involved with some trials of fluke-Solve and have used it at 5.6 DG for body flukes scraping 24 hours later and found no flukes.I also ran a test at 18 DG for gill flukes along with water tests for longevity of the treatment. As before no flukes were found 24 hours later but as we know these...

Re: observation tower

Re: Red on Koi pec nuckles

Hi I would agree with Gazza also it is better to treat with a gentle clean so you know it's clean rather than leave it.I think you made a good call.

Re: flukes

Hi with fluke-Solve it will work down to 3 Dg and you will only need one treatment for body flukes, gill flukes are a bit more problematic as these are egg layers and with falling temps there is no telling when they will hatch.

Re: Fewer problems this year

Hi my only problem with virkon and treatments like this is when people use then permanently a bit like PP on a regular basis to reduce dock etc.As a treatment for a problem in the pond short term that's fine.I prefer CT but what ever works if it gets your Koi well again go for it.

Re: Fewer problems this year

Could we be seeing antibiotic resistance due to the much discussed abuse of them ? more than likely yes I would have thought, perhaps rolling the clock back to antibiotics that have not been used for a while would do the trick :?

Re: Fewer problems this year

Hi Peter I have seen a fair few bacterial infections this year (not on my Koi) no more or less than usual but have not seen any thing that has not responded to Cloromine T heat and salt in a qt,I had a discussion with Paula on this very subject and she said there was nothing in our ponds that Clorom...
