Re: starting out

You need Kohaku across a chag to get Ochiba, I have to say it having spent a summer up at Cuttlebrook whilst building there house. This is seriously hard work and not just about Your Koi having a kiss and a cuddle :D Culling is mind blowing and very very pain staking. I was lucky enough to help Mark...

Re: Filtration Ideas For New Pond

Hi Andy sorry mate its not about how many wall ties You have used, its the size of the pier. If You stood in Your pond now You would be able to push it over quiet simply,There is no weight to it, and as it is going with the radius I would say a weak point. OK I know its going to have lintels over th...

Re: Filtration Ideas For New Pond

Looking good mate and Your man has done a nice neat job, I hate to say it though, it may be fingers crossed time when filling, a 225mmx900mm pier between those two windows is a big ask, especially on that radius. What lintels are You using? Are YOu having something cast to run the radius? Or laying ...

Cheers Ben I didnt realize I couldnt put the dealers name up, I thought I would share My findings with people as I bet I have fitted more drains than most. These are the best, no doubt!

Re: new build

How much water are You going to put over each shower ? I would suggest it might be better to run each shower as a seperate thing, ie its own bottom drain or side wall feed, and its own 4" feed back to the pond, Two pumps from one drain can fight against one another if You are pulling maximum vo...

Re: new pond build

HI Jonny and welcome to Koiquest, I hate to say it but who ever is giving You advise on Your up and coming build needs to be given a wide berth in the future. Render and fiber glass is the only way to go in My book Airated bottom drain 100% buy a descent one not a cheap imitation from ebay Vortex af...

Re: Pond Re-Build! Help Please!

If Your having the pond fiberglassed,G4 or other pond paint, throw the screws away, they are only to be used on a liner pond. As for the render sand and cement 6 to 1 mix I wouldnt bother with fibers. You can use a sharp sand mix but is a bit more for the experianced hand. Personally I would screed ...

Re: QT

I will be very interested to learn what You can achieve on the bigger pond, You say You were restricted due to the depth of the pond, I can see 3 course`s of blocks above ground is that it, or is it below ground as well. 3 course of blocks makes it 675mm, so I`m guessing just over 600mm deep. I have...

Looks good mate, I do like the idea behind the air lift system, can You tell Me how You have worked the turnover out.
Nice job as usual Bob, I know how much You were looking forward to working in such a tight space.

Re: Building plinths to support filters

OK shuttering up and building concrete block wall to hold back 600mm of concrete seems a little on the drastic side to Me. Getting blocks level is a simple task if You have a gauge to work to. I would go with laid flat concrete blocks and bricks to get to Your required hieght. First thing to do is m...

Re: BIG THANK YOU A4KOI & KASHIRA ponds

It was a pleasure Ian to put a smile back on Yours and the Good Lady Wifes faces :D I have to say I have seen some shoddy work in My time but the filter house blockwork was pretty bad. 75mm out of level over a 3m length and 45mm out of up right and only 1125mm high  Thats shocking, they could...

Re: new quarantine build

I would disagree with Ed, Keep the Pod from the bottom drain, You will be fine with 1200 the pod will cope with no probs due to pumping to a head. I would 100% advise at this stage of any build add a side wall feed, with a tommy drain cover. If You have a spare pump then pump that direct over shower...
