Have to agree with Jeff, Aquadyne are an awesome filter. Fit a sieve before hand and takes most of the solids out and then you have crystal clear water. There is now a low wattage pump that also works well with these filters too.

Ron I run 2 x 8.8's and also have a 4.4 for winter to take over from the Bakki shower in the winter. Each system is fed via a sieve which takes out most of the solids. Drew at Koi Waterlife Centre has some new low wattage pumps that feed the Aquadynes without loss of flow. I can not recommend these ...

Colin I would not use too much air as you have found out to your cost. It is not the most economic way to use BHM but in a smakk system it is another option to consider.

Colin submerged BHM certainly does work and although not as good as in a shower it does still work. You will get a collection of waste but if you hose it down with pond water like Momotaro do/did every 3 months for their size, once a month in a smaller UK system then you will be fine.

No need to G4 over the top wate of time anf effort.Just ensure enough overlap over the G4 and ensure you work the Gold Label into the crack! You cal fill back up with water straight away as GL goes off under water. excellent stuff, not cheap but excellent stuff

Hi Yip. The Gold label will seal the crack but you need to work it in to the crack with your finger then cover an area of about 1 to 1.5 inches away from the crack and get a good bond onto the G4. Agree 2 skimmers one in each corner and 2 side drains below ground level on the 2 side walls. Placing them there will not effect the drop and flow you are trying to achieve. I would also just pull straight from each with a pump and basket, feed the showers with the crud they love! I would be tempted...
