Re: What size timbers?

Bob I did a triangular pergola in Broadstairs and used 8 x 3 timbers as the runs were 6m. I would be happy to use a 6 x 2 timber for the horizontals but would be happier with a 8x2 or 8 x 3 but you may also need to put a horizontal support unfer the middle of your polycarb to help take the load of t...

Re: Aquadyne vs Nexus - which to have next?

Having experience of both Nexus and Bead systems I wouldn't hesitate recommending the Aquadyne range of filters. A sieve from the bottom drain and pump feed the filter where you have the ability to satelite the main filter anywhere you want to. You also get crystal clear water which Nexus units can ...

Re: Best Bead filters

Have to agree with Jeff, Aquadyne are an awesome filter. Fit a sieve before hand and takes most of the solids out and then you have crystal clear water. There is now a low wattage pump that also works well with these filters too.

Re: aquadyne bead filter

Ron I run 2 x 8.8's and also have a 4.4 for winter to take over from the Bakki shower in the winter. Each system is fed via a sieve which takes out most of the solids. Drew at Koi Waterlife Centre has some new low wattage pumps that feed the Aquadynes without loss of flow. I can not recommend these ...

Re: BHM Submerged

Cheers Gazza it was a tad busy! Never feels like enough hours in the day at present!

Colin I would not use too much air as you have found out to your cost. It is not the most economic way to use BHM but in a smakk system it is another option to consider.

Re: BHM Submerged

Colin submerged BHM certainly does work and although not as good as in a shower it does still work. You will get a collection of waste but if you hose it down with pond water like Momotaro do/did every 3 months for their size, once a month in a smaller UK system then you will be fine.

Re: Tricky BD Problem.... Help Please!!

Chris I see your point and the lower market air pumps will always struggle to give acceptable results. However if once topping up you run the air pump on the BD you should never get water comong back down the airline as the one wat valve will stop the return making it easier for your pump to carry o...

Re: Tricky BD Problem.... Help Please!!

you only need to fit the non return valve just before the pump not as close to the drain.

Re: gold label sealer

Yip.

No need to G4 over the top wate of time anf effort.Just ensure enough overlap over the G4 and ensure you work the Gold Label into the crack! You cal fill back up with water straight away as GL goes off under water. excellent stuff, not cheap but excellent stuff

Re: gold label sealer

Hi Yip. The Gold label will seal the crack but you need to work it in to the crack with your finger then cover an area of about 1 to 1.5 inches away from the crack and get a good bond onto the G4. If you spit on your finger the Gold Label will not stick to your skin. However be aware that this stuff...

Re: Advice needed on new pond build

Agree 2 skimmers one in each corner and 2 side drains below ground level on the 2 side walls. Placing them there will not effect the drop and flow you are trying to achieve. I would also just pull straight from each with a pump and basket, feed the showers with the crud they love! I would be tempted...
