Re: packing it all in

Duncan, These idiots are really pissing you off and I can understand why you are doing what you are. You have worked really hard for the hobby in the background generally, you dont have the ego of these people. Many of us that know you well know you as a quietly spoken, well mannered, very clever pe...

Re: Streamflow ponds???

Hi Ed, Yes I've seen them and they look good. Maybe a bit more than I want to pay though. As I can make 'anything' out of fibreglass I can make a water tank easily to hold the inlet from 2 x 4" inlets, which would house the pump. It may be easier for me to make up this tank and then use a 2-foo...

Re: Streamflow ponds???

Bob, The 30,000lph Lifetech Pipe pump "realistically" delivers 5600gph over a shower (I know i measured it) this is using 4" spraybar and only 1 x 90deg bend. So you should be able to feed the chamber using two 4" side drains. Sounds good Greg Need to put the pump 'somewhere' wh...

Re: Streamflow ponds???

Gazza,

Yes I will be using a pipe pump over the shower, just have to work out how to feed the water to it! Needs to be midwater feeds and enough of them to ensure the pipe pump doesnt run dry

Re: Streamflow ponds???

I've heard the slope is crucial to this type of pond, is this correct? What sort of drop in slope per foot/10-feet/15-feet etc, any thoughts anyone I will use a shower and weir exit straight back into the pond I'll also probably line the pond with celetex, so be interesting to create the drains with...

Re: Streamflow ponds???

The Nippon boys posted some drawings a long while back, I have copies which they allowed me to take, but I'd need their permission to print them here. A little different from Ed's and it was their design for their 2000 gallon growing on pond Justin - thanks for the offer, I will be in touch about th...

Re: Streamflow ponds???

Thanks for your comments guys Just as I thought no real downsides! I've read up on many pond builds and know of the one being built now which I'm following. So the slope is crucial, need to read up on that a bit more I have a large nearly double shower which I'll be using and it will be housed 'indo...

Streamflow ponds???

I hope later this year to be building a new pond, when I get a new house. I have been impressed with what I've seen on streamflow ponds and this is my intended design. As I've got plenty of time, thought I'd research it here with you guys - So what downsides have you guys seen or heard about? What p...

Re: Ed's pond build

Ed, You'll never get the sump pumped empty, so there will always be waste water in there. It will also smell as well, been there done that. If you install the storm drain, which would look good, you'll probably end up with more smell as it's an open grate. Have you thought about putting the waste pi...

Re: home made easy

Carl,

Think there's about 50l in that big black tank, which is actually a very large plastic plant pot from a garden centre
