Re: Air & where?

i'd have to agree, stick the ceramic disc on top of the bottom drain cover. and all the other air in some uplift tubes (big ones) running the filter or just hung over the pond side ( remember no air stones needed)   ` it'll move more water than any airstone.. this'll give y...

Re: Shower Upgrade

love the showers, i think you should have them further over the pond so the base plate is sitting totally on the brickwork. question:- are you going to screen the showers from the neighbours behind the fence. they will be directly in line for all the noise from the spraybar. at the moment your pond ...

Re: Air Up Lifts

thats fine, but youll need to make sure what you are doing with regards to filtration type and position before you fibreglass because there will be a need to cut out a small section of the top of the pond wall to remove any restrictions in getting the water back to the pond. last thing you want to d...

Re: Air Up Lifts

the main quest for our pond was to run it using less than 200watts and thus far it is. (excluding UV which is only on for a couple of days when needed) if you want to use either method, it is now you need to decide one way or the other. for the push method you need the filters about an inch higher t...

Re: Air Up Lifts

Oi now your minds wandering !!!
the clear bit of pipe is above the water level so you can easily see the height of the water in the pipe with the different air pumps. didn't have 2meters of clear 4" pipe

Re: Air Up Lifts

i do like it when a thread runs for weeks without getting boring and lost in its direction. now down to business:- the idea of not having airstones is fine if you only use one or two outlets per air pump. our system uses 18 uplifts on one air pump and hubby found it impossible to balance the air on ...

Re: Anyone fancy a swim?

now theres an idea. gently push an airline down the bottom drain pipework. (it will go round the bend) till it gets as far as you can go, then connect it to an air pump/compressor and pull the pipe back sl;owly. you should clear lots of crud and hopefully the dreaded blanket weed. even attaching the...

Re: Anyone fancy a swim?

Jules is you man with the gills of a fish. :D
other than that have you tried pushing a hose with a spray end back through the bottomdrain pipework, this sometimes breaks it up enough to clear any blockages.

Re: Building plinths to support filters

my idea would be to build the base larger than needed out of blocks layed on their side (2" lower than needed). and then use shuttering on top to create the final level surface using a nice sloshy mix of cement.

Re: Air Up Lifts

3kw is nothing. when midnight comes and eco7 starts the washing machine, tumble drier, storage heaters and water heater kick in. 12kw is a norm. scary  i would recomend anyone to get one as its surprising how much you learn from just watching the numbers, we noticed our old freezer wa...

Re: Air Up Lifts

heres a few answers and questions conbined. it may be better to have underwater uplifts but its just easier to get the water up a little and over the side. remember K.I.S.S. air powered sponge filters are totally different yes you can have it with no airstones but balancing the flow of air using 1 p...

Re: Filter configuration

all sounds fine, but i'd put the heater on the main filter as otherwise your putting heated water at the top of the shower only for it to cool by the time its reached the bottom. just money thrown to the atmostphere
