Re: Pond lighting - Is it a science?

I've done a bit of night diving in my time and even in fresh water at night it looks like coconut juice with all the fines. Not that I've tried drinking it but the verscocity of it and all that. The lighting in my mind, is subtle and just aimed at lighting the side of the pond walls, as opposed to C...

Re: Nexus advice please

Martin - We must of posted at the same time this morning and mine deleted, no probs a re-write is in order you’re advice is more worthwhile. :D Thanks for advice on the "Main Filter Suite" without doubt an apt name. Mine has no name as such; it’s just 'the big 8 foot hole' at present. Whe...

Re: Nexus advice please

Thanks Gazza  Note the condensation issue, good advice from hands on experience. I will now adapt my plan and add in an auto-condensation extractor.

Nexus advice please

Please can Nexus owners advice what clearance they need above the Nexus for cleaning and general maintenance :?: My pond build is to ground level/water level, with 2 x Nexus adjacent to pond in a cellar area. I will be building a concrete floor above the position of both these Nexus and would like s...

Re: Pond lighting - Is it a science?

Dave, Yes its loads of hassle if the lights are waterside i.e. in the water. Andy's idea is to make holes through the pond wall, pre glassing which will then remain hollowed out dry holes. After the glassing, seal off pieces of glass so they are minature windows, same as the windows people put in an...

Re: Pond lighting - Is it a science?

Apologies for not responding sooner, if I mention Vista + hard drive + crash I think I'll cut a frustrating boring story sideways. I am now reverting to XP. Andy, your idea/thinking is on the money and a lot more succinctly put than mine. I understand exactly what you mean and more to the point that...

Re: OMG!

Hi Bob,

Good to see you posting. One assumes you planned the pipework specifically and meticously in the event such a castophe might have struck?

Am suffering huge IT problems with Vista! So will sign off before the next crash. Hope the fish pulled through OK?

Re: Split bead filter! :(

Louie, A quick one liner made in jest though the outcome is a satisfactory result. I would expect them to recover the faulty filter and inturn exchange with there wholesale supplier, unless they make themselves. You mention your water has become crystal clear in little over a week having stopped usi...

Re: Split bead filter! :(

Hi - Suggest a newish product by Unibond 'Repair Metal'. Two tubes and when mixed you have a short period of time to apply. Its very good and sticks literally everything back together thus the metal claim. Intro also points out its good for rads under pressure etc. Circa £4.

Best of luck.

Re: Pond lighting - Is it a science?

Thanks Matt, Lighting certainly seems to be a personal choice and some people may have misunderstood the rule of subtlety. The UFO concept sounds surreal and not my cup of tea. As you say each to their own. Beam me up Scottie  I've sent you a PM re. lighting as I’m pondering with the idea of ...
