Re: new treatment

Duncan Our local Dealer recommends a product called combat which they use themselves at double the dosage. It is supposed to lower protozoen parasites and bacterial. I am not sure what is in it but when it hits the water it turns a brillant green ( not malachite green). It does seem to pick the koi ...

Kanamycin

I think this will be another question for DuncanI have some kanamycin left over from last season and has been frozen until about 6 weeks ago and has been in the fridge since then. Is it ok to still use or is it too risky .

Re: Seneye

I am on the verge of buying one when I came across this thread http://www.koiforum.co.uk/reverse-osmosis-ro-systems-usage-talk/14645-apparently-seneye-low-kh-dont-go.html As I am now running a very skinny K.H. in an attempt to control p.H. ( long story) I am still sitting on the fence. It would be n...

Duncans Ulcer treatment

Some time ago I was lucky enough to win a couple of prizes off Duncan which included a bottle of ulcer treatment. Now I have found a koi which has picked up a couple of wounds underneath which she may have picked up during a recent bout of gill flukes and costia. Fortunately it don,t look too bad so...

Re: Thinking outside the box

Duncan. For some reason Oystershell is very popular in my area, where most have soft water, but not all. I have learned the hardway and after great expence found that even a lot of it does not react quick enough during the night to prevent a p.H. fall. The naturashell does raise the k.H. and consiqu...

Thinking outside the box

After taking Duncans advice and removing most of the oystershell, naturashell and hydrolite. There has been a gradual improvement in the koi, especially the shiro. She is still hanging in the water with head down on occation, but is ravenous most of the time as is the rest of the koi. I am not sure ...

Re: BKKS nationals

Sorry I did not make the show. perhaps some of us could have met up. I have to continually review the situation as regards costs. I have just layed out £800 for a new boiler. Could have been a lot more if I did not fit it myself. Last year it was over £1000 upgrading to BHM. Its been a few years now...

Re: Reducing p.H. K.H. and G.H.

Sorry Guys for sounding so dishearted. I am back of holliday and after doing a couple of waterchanges ( thought it would be a good idea as no maintenance was done while I was away) Koi are looking pretty good and all are eating. The p.h. K.H. and G.H. have all crept up a little while I have been awa...

Re: Fed up of loosing Koi

Duncan Thanks for the very quick response. I have gone to what I think are great lengths to reduce my p.H. swing. Last year when I had the gill fluke outbreak I am not saying this is the cause but the p.H at the time was swinging everywhere, as much as 0.7 between morning and night. The koi seemed t...

Re: microscope settings

I am currently using a 20x eyepeice and 4x objective then move on up to 10 objective. I used to use a 10x eyepiece but lost it . No wonder I have trouble finding anything lately. I have tried looking for an Apex 10x eyepiece but have been unable to source one .Best Regards Dave

Re: ulcer kit

I would like to see a cleanser, antiseptic and sealer or the last two being combined which is even better. Preferably mechuchrome based. Was not 100% sure this is exactly what you mean. Best REgards Dave
