Re: Bug Eyed.....?

Can't see much of "bulg" to be honest.

But anyway, as you've had chemical in the pond then this is sometimes a reaction.

Re: Tail Tube Damage

Mark If it's getting worse after amputation then I fear it is poor technique that is causing a spread of the infection. I would simply remove any dead scales, squeeze any puss out, and then throw the koi back into the hospital tank. Don't apply or spread stuff around. Keep the salt up, heat up, CT a...

Re: Tail Tube Damage

Yep, apart from the pretty colour never found much use for it. That said, when I last tried it some 3 years back I'm guessing my bacterial count was off the chart so it was a bit of a moot point. Just dilute it out, and then revert to CT if needs be. Need to see some "healing" in the area ...

Re: Tail Tube Damage

Mark

If I chopped your pinkie off, how'd you think it might look after a couple of days ? :D

Looks quite positive, hopefully you can now leave it alone for a while to heal up.

Re: Tail Tube Damage

Mark

Did you have an examination of the original wound to see if there was anything "in" the wound? Or anything rubbing on it to stop it closing?

Hopefully with heat, salt, and perhaps some CT or similar you can keep it under control now.

Re: Green Water

Sid Actually, I'm happy enough to dump water from the main pond into the garage. Just now to "swap it" around. I'll give it a go.... can't get much more a swamp than the main pond! Tom PS: Was considering adding another halide BUT I'm on a campaign to try to reduce my electricity from its ...

Green Water

No, not the normal question... but.... How do you get water to go green in an indoor system? Currently: limited natural light (can't change that), 70W halide, 2 x 60W aquariums, on 2000 gallons. Would be interested to hear thoughts. Now my outdoor pond is as green as you like given the UV has burnt ...

Re: Tail Tube Damage

Sounds good, Mark. You have to be "brutal" on such damage. Any "pansy"-ing around just delays the inevitable or makes things worse. So good to hear. We watched recently someone (with good experience) trying to clean a bit of damage. They were very careful and after removing a sca...

Re: Tail Tube Damage

Hi Mark 23c is a good temperature. When I have serious issues, I tend to head very quiclkly to 27-28c , CT'ing on the way up. Regrowth rates are v good here. That said, it's a bit of a "all in" strategy and only advisable in my view if you know your water/system is solid. If you are dealin...

Re: Tail Tube Damage

Have to say I was a bit taken about by the latest pictures. Whilst the wound may have closed there's a lot of "noise" happening around the wound site. Have you dug around Mark to ensure there are no fragments of scales or some foreign bodies around this area? Also, the marked area looked o...

Re: packing it all in

Dunc The choice will have to be yours as whether to pack-in or keep going. That may seem harse but it's the advice I give to anyone in this situation. We can only influence you by our signal of support. I have no idea why some people on that forum continue with this thread and the posts. I can tell ...

Re: Streamflow ponds???

Doh, I see it now. I was extending the shower's return from the shallow end floor to the far end - I didn't see the little break.
Thanks.
