Re: BACTERIAL PROBLEMS (he has died)

Hi Gazza Thank you for the kind words and all your support through this, I can't help wondering if there was something else I should of done, or something I did wrong, so your kind words help a lot ( and I really mean that) Hi Geoff It is horrible when you lose a Koi no matter how long you have had ...

Re: What good is GH?

Hi I have to agree with Duncan over the food issue, the only time Koi will eat fish is at the egg stage and when the fry are small, having had fry in a pond with Koi they have never tried to eat small fish, so once the fry become say an inch in length they are safe. Fry hide in greenary, plants, bla...

Re: Safe interval for treating

Hi Jane This year really bad for a lot of people with one thing or another. If I am right the formalin strips the mucus which in turn strips the koi of them, except for White Spot, as you have already mentioned the only reason we have to re-dose 3 times is to get the hatching Tomites which is the on...

Re: BACTERIAL PROBLEMS

Hi Gazza This is bacterial or viral, whatever it is is melting him away. His gills are fine, no heavy mucus and he is swimming and breathing fine, so it just doesnt make sense. The other 2 in the pond are still fine and eatting normally not a mark on them. Like you have said an immunity problem. I a...

Hi Dave That is such good progress, considering how angry it was and so deep she has done remarkably well, with all your love care and attention. Unless something awful happens it looks like she should make a full recovery lets keep all fingers and toes crossed that she behaves herslef and doesn't p...

Re: optimal temperature for tissue repair

Hi Dave That is great news about the Sanke, it is always good to see them come for food and seeing as she is looking for it as well can only be a good thing. I think when you have a wound of that nature and the signs of healing are so good it is always hard when to decide to have a look just to chec...

Re: getting to the heart of the problem

Hi Dave You are the first person I have heard say they are not happy with the bead filters, I made my own static K1 chanber for my vortex and it worked brilliantly, and I am still amased at just how much rubbish it can hold and the water return being clear. I am sure a lot of people with this system...

Re: Sleeping sickness

Hi Kanundra Well done for sticking with it, I know when you buy a young Koi from Maurice he always supplies a left about sleeping sickness, which luckily I have never suffered. The salt will of protected the Koi from the nitrite and it shouldn't of affected the filter as the bacteria in the filter i...

Hi While reading this post I thought the same as Duncan, there is something else going on I think the parasites were a sympton not the cause. There are a heck of a lot of Bacterial problems going round at the moment and if they are still showing signs of stress and fin rot then I think the next cour...

Re: optimal temperature for tissue repair

Hi Dave I cant answer all your questions but the best tempreture for skin regrowth is around 23-24 but not above 27. With propolis whenever I have tried to use this on food the Koi and they wouldn't touch it. I normally have a cocktail of food with immune boosters and I normally dont have any proble...

Re: What good is GH?

Hi I was going to post on water as very soon I will be on the move back up north, the readings I had up there before were PH 6.4 GH 2 KH 2-3. When the Koi first came up there I thought I would have really bad issues with them jumping out of the pond and not doing to well in general, as they were com...
