£65 is bargin of the century. Even the smallest one (XS?) go for around £200 second hand. I doubt it will leak apart from a few drops around some of the pipework. If you decide to put the bead filter to good use, I would definitely drain it down and wash the beads as they keep pretty mucky and goes ...

Hi Maxine, I would agree with Andy_L. Wash the beads and the soak the filter with PP and you should be fine. Unless the beads has been deformed in someway there should be no problems with it. It would be a good idea to PP the bead filter even if you are just adding new beads as with it sitting aroun...

Hi jason, You mix it exactly the same way as genreally speaking you only mixed a fairly small quantity at a time anyway. The only advise I would give you is to make sure you weight everything to make sure you know how much resin/gel coat you have so that you can work out the exact amount of catalyst...

hi Jason, Sorry to see you are having trouble with your pond. I think Bob's idea of replacing the drain will work but I would definitely go with your idea of patching the split and then fibreglassing over it. How about squirting some expanding foam in situ behind the crack so as to give it a bit of ...

Hi Lee, Assuming that the width is constant at 5 ft (not very wide by the way) and that the whole length is 20 ft and a constant depth of 6ft, that should give you a box shape of 17.5 (length)x 5 (width) x 6 (depth) cubic foot. Plus you need to add in the D which is 3.14 (pi) x 2.5 x2.5 (square of t...

Yes, age and sitting on your backside all day is definitely not the best combination! I can vouch for that!! Take it easy Bob, it is meant to be a hobby not a mean of hurrying you to the next realm. Having said that in side my still unfinished fish house it now regularly reached 22/23C on sunny days...

Hi Bob, Selco does load of 8x2s. There latest treated timber are great, machine dried, straight as a die and as smooth as a baby's bottom. But unfortunately their quality does vary depending where they source their latest batch from and the fact that the nearest branch to you looks like is in Croydo...

Bob, the way I see it you can bring the post in a little, say a metre from either end or put a post in the middle. You can also make the canopy a little bit wider so that the post won't be right next to the pond. If you go for the bringing the post in a little then a 6 m span should be possible in t...

Hi Scott, I can assure you my pond definitely is not cooler due to my pergola. My whole pond is enclose with polycarbonate and glass. Just last week when the sun was out the ambient temperature outside was about 18C but inside my fish house it was 27C. Definitely hot and steamy. On cold windy days i...
