Re: Japan trip, advise and costings.
Tim, One suggestion i have is that if you fancy seeing "a bit of Japan" is that i know Steve Gibbins of Koi.tours does that kind of thing for instance i know he took in the Japan GP this autumn and things like that but i know nothing about shipping koi, commisions, Quarantine etc on a trip...

Re: Microscopes
I'm another who never floats bags.... more stress and risk than its worth. For me when i show this is the worst bit when the benching teams float the bags before releasing the koi. As a good "showing" koi keeper you should be in the ball park with temps anyway and i don't see that trying t...

Re: Japan trip, advise and costings.
Tim, So who is the dealer you use now to buy your Koi, food, dry goods off etc? Maybe they are the best starting point? Then its down to which part of Japan you want to visit? Niigata area, Isawa, Hiroshima.... then tailoring the trip with the right dealer to suit. BUT..... Here is a thought... REAL...

Ed, Nadine (my wife) has used PP on wild Malawi Chicilids in the past - we used the normal dosage the trick is getting the scales to read low enough to measure out to suit such a small amount of water or doign your maths right to "dilute" the concentrated solution down to a treatable level...

Geoff,
In all reality it will take a while to get the clarity back - you could speed this up by changing larger amounts of water if you want.

Re: Bad water clarity
Geoff, I know we've talked about food a bit in the past and i still stand by what i said back then that if you stick within the know koi foods then you'll not go far wrong. There is as you know a Japanese koi food in the same kinda price range (£4.40 per kg) that i have used with no issues - it is v...

Re: Any Idea's?
OK, An update...... Paula felt could be a number of things and left me with two options. i). Try an experiment of injecting the koi with a course of baytril (10%) at 0.1ml per KG with 3 clear days between the injections. ii). Take the koi to her and she would take blood samples etc and try to be mor...

Re: Any Idea's?
Duncan, The koi behaves perfectly normal - feeding well. Not bloated or out of shape it is male and is 8 years old Water is better than it has ever been IMO. (PH - 7/7.1, TDS 110-120, KH 2, GH 2, Amm - 0, Nitrite - 0) In terms of other koi there is one other with hints of it. But they are again very...

Re: Worrysome lesion on koi
Steve,
Not 100% from the picture but my inclination is towards Hikui.
Bao Bio Hikui Med - Nope no good. Tried it and failed.
There is a slightly older thread on here about Hikui and various treatments - have a look back through the pages and see what the best success was with.

Re: Water Utopia
. At present I have increased my mix water to bring the levels up as you had mentioned. When the Kh has become settled in the 2-3 zone then I will try to draw back on the mix, until I reach a point I am happy with. Simon, I think this was / is the right thing to do. Rather than trying to rescue the...

Re: Water Utopia
Simon, I know we have spoken about this on the phone and there is a sense of frustration on your part with this topic. Just about every body knows i am PRO using RO in a pond that needs it and after reading through this thread again i find myself kind of agreeing with Syd ( ) but also wantin...
