Hi Bob,
either more post as tommy said or thicker timber. No way are you going to get away with anything less than 6x2 with your span. Mine are 2 pieces of 8x2 with a 4x4 bolted in the middle. I hate saggy things.
David.

Hi Jon, My prefer filtration is aerated K1 above anything else. I added the bead filter to polish the water. The Bakki shower is something that I have always fancied as I think it added to the O2 of the pond. I think each type of filters have a slightly different mix of bacteria so it is better safe...

Bob, Nice bit of polycarb boxing in the shower. I don't remember that the last time I was there, so it must be a new addition. Jon, My bakki showers are inside the filter house and definitely attached to the pond. Would you ever rely on a Bakki only filtration system On my main pond I have 300 ltr o...

Hi Jon, Sorry to jump in, but I think there will be plenty of oxygen in the water to enable the break down of the waste. The thing that you have to watch out for if you totally enclose the system is pH crashes due to the CO2 build up. My QT is totally enclosed and if I leave the air pump off over ni...

Hi Jon, Dave A, I think was quoting £20 a square metre of finished fibreglass, don't know his current price though. I don't think he or anyone else will have time to drink beer while they are fibre glassing, as you really have to get your rear end in gear. I heard he drinks lots of coffee though....

Jon, £18 per square metre, excessive? In what way is this excessive? Or are you saying £20 per square metre is excessive? Personally I don't think either is excessive especially when you price up the material you need for the job yourself. £20 per square meter for a professional job is by n...

Stu, Oase does a screen to go with the big Biotect filter that they do(Biotect 18 and 36 off the top of my head) and these screens are available for sale seperately. I think Boddington Koi sells them. I was going to get some for myself a while back. I have got a second hand Estrad sieve now so that ...

Danny, getting back to the subject. I would say it is possible to use with a skimmer as the skimmer will take out the large stuff (leaves, frogs etc) and the only thing that will get pass are things like bits of food and the remains of a few rotting leaves. As the pump can be plumbed into the skimme...

Bob, I knew I can count of you to give me grieve. It is only the top end that is a tip now. But I am getting rid of as much junk as poss before the mother-in-law comes for the summer. There are quite a few koi bits in there so you are more than welcome to route round and see what you can find. Most ...

Hi Nic, I have 200 litre of the stuff. But I only use it as a static media to trap dirt. I have never used it as a fluidised media, I prefer K1 for that. As Angie points out there is no internal structure to the media so it is supposed to be more prone to damage (gets squashed!!). I must admit I hav...

the fibreglass makes a lot of difference! So does 6x3! A 2x4 would look like a mere twig by comparison. I wouldn't trust 2x4 to hold up my decking, which in places I had to used so I placed blocks underneath to stop it bowing. I weight about 80kg and am only on the decking momentarily! 10,000 kg in ...
