Re: Advice needed on new pond build

Firstly are you on a water metre? Secondly if you're going for showers would you like a 95% maintenance free pond? If yes to the second and no to the first - perfect! I would suggest you go for a "stream flow pond" Botomdrains flush themselves via air pumps on timers and you get good quali...

Re: Drilling holes in Certikin skimmers...

Martin.

You can drill through the side and place a 22mm waste in the side and attach it with something like gold label. It is tough stuff but easily drillable with a sharp hole cutter.

Re: cetus sieve

Topcat I have 6 of them and must say that they are a lot better than I first thought. Clean the screens with "costic soda" frfom B+Q. It is about £3.50 mix it in a stainless bowl or a glass dish at a ratio of 1 to 1. Paint it on with a paint brush and leave for 10 mins. Wah off with a hose...

Re: Fibreglass or gelcoat?

This is true Jon however for the extra cost is it worth it? Where is the main heat of the pond lost? Verticaly across the surface area. Does foam realy make that much difference?

Re: Fibreglass or gelcoat?

A life time span of at least 25 years if applied correctly. G4 to name 1 painted finish peels eventualy. This creates the need to empty the pool temporary rehome fish, and fix.

Fibreglass is a more expensive initial outlay but in my opinion the only way to finish a pond correctly.

Re: Nexus advice please

You can use access covers to get at the centre pipe but if you get a blockage on the outlet of the centre chamber you will have to remove the Eazy to get to the source of the blockage, all be it leaves or bio chips. You could always use a combination of steel access covers which will look pants and ...

Re: Nexus advice please

You need a lid that is either on hinges or removable. You also need to have the abilty to remove the filters at any time due to any manafacturers defects, however I will test the units for you before you put them in. As long as you have enough height above final water level (bear in mind th ewater g...

Re: media for shower

Have to agree with the rest of the boys. BHM is the best media on the market for any trickle tower/shower. The alternatives are cheap imitations and like all things you get the results you pay for. With BHM the Koi's attitude changes overnight to that of manic feeders and activlety looking out for f...

Thought you'd left the country! No need to tell us how lovley your good Lady is mate and you are well aware how good you have it, say Hi to the girls from us three

If I were you I would move the shed and put it inside, a little more work but well worth th effort.
