I have a koi thats had a lump on it's side for about 3 years,it's not bothered just acts normal and feeds well so I just leave it alone as long it looks happy.

If I have understood it correctly the good bacteria needs the KH to suvive not the koi,thats what a filter crash is all about no KH the good bugs die.

I thought it was just 24 hours,not too sure if my Nexus will go that long without cleaning,I have been cleaning the Nexus and Pod everyday only uses about 80gallon though so may just do that a couple of times in the next week if you think it will be ok.

Hi Dan I wonder if you have a copy of Ducans book on health treatments?,Gazza is telling you the correct protocol for using MG&F(whatever the brand is called)so if your not using it in the right way you are putting your koi in danger because it doesn't work with some parasites unless you follow ...

I know there are no symptoms but have you got enough air in the pond as I can't see any mention of it in your post,in England we are having some really nice weather and a few ponds are being caught out with a lack of oxygeon.
