Re: Anoxic filtration
Hi fella's. Well, four months down the line and still the Anoxic Filter System (AFS) project is evolving (I know what you're thinking; Cathedrals have been built in less time)! However, despite the outwardly visible lack of progress, a small but significant step has been taken with the choice, purch...

Re: PH High KH Low
Hi Susan, I had a similar issue with high pH readings earlier this season and mine turned out to be the effect of the sun on the pond. ** Skip to the bottom line of this post if you want the short version of what the next two paragraphs will go on to conclude. It'll save you 5 minutes you'll never g...

Re: Fish not eating for quite a while and mouth open
Hi David, I don't have any experience of this (or much else for that matter) but have you considered sedating the fish for a proper examination of his mouth/throat to see if there's anything lodged further in? It sounds like a physical issue rather than one caused by the usual culprits but I'm guess...

Ammonia (NH3) Spike
Morning all. I found Costia on a few of my fish last week and treated with MG/F (1%/30% w/v, 2 doses over five days) which has done a great job on the wee beasties but I've had a massive increase in my NH3 from the normal 0.02ppm average to something like 2.4 today!!! Now, the fish look ok for the t...

Heartening to hear and, yes it's early days but that's such a promising reaction if I'd had a result like that I'd be chuffed with myself so well done to you. Fingers all crossed for a full recovery. Best regards, M

John, did you say in another thread that your filter is pump fed from the bd via the 4" pipe or are you gravity fed to the filter and use a pump to return?

A beautiful house with 18000 gallon indoor/outdoor pond in a semi tropical climate with unlimited fresh, clean and chemically free water source? That'd do me John! Don't let the lack of "traffic" on this forum fool you mate, the advice you'll get on here is second to none. Cheers...

Re: Correct storage of water pump
Hi Russ. I guess a question like that is bound to attract the proverbial "how long is a piece of string" reply. There's no definitive answer and what you decide to do will depend on how fanatical you want to be. If it's worth a few bob and you're looking to flog it for a good price then it...

Re: Is 0.9ppt salt safe to use with Tench?
Hi Trace, not sure about the black slimy algae unless you've treated for blanket weed earlier this summer. I've read on other forums that you're not the only one with this issue though but I can't say if anyone had a definitive answer. Ref your jumping fish; is your pond in full sun? If so, check yo...

Re: Tric and flukes
Duncan or one of the other experienced guys like Dave or Manky will know this better than me and one of them will hopefully see this thread and give you the best options. As I understand it Potassium Permanganate at 1.5gm/220gal will get rid of the Tric but isn't much cop for gill flukes and I'm not...
