Re: Egg compaction

I undertsand the starvation thing as you say humans are the same. I am guessing you would have to starve the fish fo...

Egg compaction
Having read the post about the tumour and Duncan stating egg compaction i have the following questions:-
1) How does it happen?
2) How can you spot it?
3) How can it be treated?

Re: Euthanasia
Priest is a good job if done correctly, someone told me about the deep freeze but i agree it takes time to freeze etc so unless clonked on the head the fish is not going to sit still in the freezer.

Re: Needles and Injections
Hi Welsh Koi Disagree... you have a lovely fish you have grown on for 3-4 years and it hets an acute bacterial infection (normally through an ulcer) do you just give in or give it a simple injection (fish are often "cured" with a single injection), or let it die. I think the problem is in...

Re: Alternatives?
I think the drug dealers will find other alternatives for their drug cultivation, I have never used PP in the koi world but it's almost going to be illegal to own it regardless how old it is?

Re: Split bead filter! :(
Louie, I would not touch it, leave it as it is otherwise they may not give you another one. Do you have the old one to show your dealer it must be a manufacturing fault? I am no expert but surely these barrels are pressure tested to normally twice their normal operational pressures (based on other p...

Re: Electric shocks.
I am not a sparky but I think what is happening is that you are earthing the live when you put your hand in the water (completing the circuit) RCD's I think need to have an earth trip ie it senses 30mA current draw to earth and trips out. Because the live is not connecting with the earth in the pond...
