Re: Advice on pond heating

Hi Dave They appear to be impressive performance figures. Things have certainly moved on rapidly, I spoke to Elecro before investing in the gas line and Boiler and they were not confident that a Heat Pump would deliver at low temps yet they now advertise an Aquatic Heat Pump. Cool price though!! My ...

Re: Advice on pond heating

Hi Dave I spent a lot of time researching the options prior to a big capital investment in a gas line, boiler etc, I got the info from the heat pump manufactures, I probably have the efficiency tables somewhere. I found that when asked the manufacturers were reluctant to provide details of performan...

Re: pump size on nexus 200

Hi No way is your pump too powerful!! When maturing the K1 in a Nexus you want minimum air in there. Have you checked that the air holes in the area of the exit are clear, use a 2mm drill bit and give them a prod. Check that the Nexus is level and that the air ring is in the clips all the way round....

Re: One of this years brood

Hi Carl Thanks for that, It will be a good few years, if ever, before we get the collection of fish we would like to have in the pond!! But hopefully next year we will have a stab at pairing the more presentable Mutts rather than leaving it up to which of the boys gets there first! Good luck with th...

Re: Advice on pond heating

Hi Paul Heating 11500 gallons is not going to be cheap. What are you looking for, something that will take the swings out and maintain temps at 10+ or something that will give you 15+. Sure that AndyB will pop in and give you the benefit of his expert knowledge. Sorry Heatpumps are a non starter... ...

Hi Ed

Yes the fun is seeing how they change, sometimes it not until you get a flash photo that you see what lies beneath!

Re: One of this years brood

Hi Guys Third year of playing, first year produced a half dozen that were respectable, last year was a wash out, :( this year has gone much better. so far.  Sourced a reasonable VAT so that next year I can try and do it properly. Load of effort but great fun watching them develop, I alw...

Re: Nexus 300 probs

Hi Michael Well looks like you are making progress, Jules is, as usual, along the right lines; sure I have heard of the odd unit that has a moulding problem in the pinch area. 6 x 90 bends; are these swept? Any chance of being able to connect some 2" flexi pipe to the pump so you can measure th...

Re: One of this years brood

Hi Bob

Yes, Mum is a Budo Goromo, have tried to retain mainly Goromo fry, although a couple of Ochiba have made the grade. Keeping on about 25 over winter to see what they look like in the Spring.

Re: Jon growing on pond build - finally!

Hi Jon

Only one point...

You have left room for some insulation between the pond wall and the shed wall haven't you? :?

Re: Nexus 300 probs

Hi Michael Ive been in this position; when the level in the Easy drops to a certain level the flow through it into the Bio drops off. Still think that a head loss of 6" in the Easy is your problem and that there is a restriction somewhere in the pipework to the Nexus. My problem was the BD set ...

Re: Nexus 300 probs

Hi Michael, Must say that I’m still of the view that the problem doesn’t lie with the Nexus but the inlet pipework. Basic problem is that the level in the Easy is too low when the pump is running, ie 6” down, differential you have between the Easy and the Bio chamber (another 2” is pretty normal). I...

One of this years brood

5 months on from Spawning. We have tried to select what we thought were Goromo, not sure whether this little girl (I hope) is gonna bit Goromo or Kohaku but we like it! :D First couple of pics at 3 months, second two yesterday.
