Re: LOYALTY OR NOT

hi Kim I think it was more a dig at a certain debyshire dealer than a genuin question, but loyalty has to be a two way street, When I first got interested in Koi a DVD and magazine said"it was a good thing to stick to one dealer" the thought being he will better understand your needs and he...

Re: DEAD BIRD IN POND

Hi Kim
A 20% water change might be a good idea, apart from that just keep an eye on how the koi behave.

Re: Choosing a New Koi

Hi Kim It's all about the size of your pocket,do you really want to spend thousands on a koi,as someone said "there are plenty of good koi and there are plenty of cheap koi but no good cheap koi",some might disagree but there are plenty of people goto Japan and pick from there, but it's ver...

Re: Trichodina 2

Hi Eds No problem,I like you have found people in this hobby aren't what you think,in Autumn I bought an Ochiba off the Japenese pages of a dealer I have been dealing with for over 6 years,I emailed him to check if my new koi had made the journey home safe,"Yes" was the reply, when I got th...

Re: koi foods

Hi Kim They are 4mm pellets and I'm going to say with this food all year as the koi do love the stuff,I had the same oil slick like you when I tried Saki Hikari food, Thats a good price for food if it doesn't upset your water,I did try some cheap stuff but the water went brownish after a month. Rega...

Re: Using a microscope

Hi Dave
When I had a problem with the Lidl microscope at 400,someone suggested I see if there was a cover on the 100 octave and sure enough there was,not too sure why the only put a cover on the 100 and not the 10 or 40 but they did so might be worth checking.

Re: koi foods

Hi All
I have tried Takazumi 50% mix with the stuff I have been using for over 6 years and I have one koi that spit the old stuff out and goes for the Takazumi, this is a smaller pellet so not too sure if it's the size or taste she prefers but I'm going to stick with this for this year.

Re: Hannah PH Meters

Hi
Sorry no luck with one myself,so I binned mine and stuck to the API test kit,for the majority of Koi Keepers the cheap test kits are more than adequate IMHO.

Re: the biological filter.

Hi Dunc
I would think you are putting Ammonia in to seed the new filter media, then you will have to use some biocarb as the KH will get used up then the PH will drop.

Re: Red on Koi pec nuckles

Thanks Gazza We can always rely on your good advice, must say she was as good as gold when I treated her before, she's a seki gushi showa and now 32",I gussed at 30" but when I got her in the bowi she was 32" so she's doing well,no pictures as I'm a mere man and can't multi-task  ...
