Re: Share the Vision Blue sky thinking

Duncan, You know me feelings on the new forum, so keep up the great work One improvement I'd like to see, is that of people using their real names, or at least using them in their signatures. No hiding behind funny names that we cant understand who they are. If the forum is restricted, what is there...

Re: Help needed on how to fix upvc to fibreglass?

Just rough up the pipe with some 80 grit (very rough) sandpaper.

This puts deep grooves into the plastic allowing the resins to take a far better grip on the pipe.

Re: What size timbers?

I used 3 x 6"x 2" timbers 6 metres long all bolted together. These were supported on 4" square posts. Blimey Bob, that's effectively a 6"x6" beam! Did you consider using an 8"x2" or maybe 8"x3" so that the extra depth helped prevent any sagging i...

Re: What size timbers?

Hi Bob, When I built my large pergola over my pond, like you I didnt want a centre support in the middle of the main pond area. I used 3 x 6"x 2" timbers 6 metres long all bolted together. These were supported on 4" square posts. The timbers from from to back of the pond were again 6&...

Re: prefiltering bakki shower.

Amanda, If you had one, you could fit a compact sieve just in front of the spray bar at the top of the shower. You would therefore remove all crap and then gravity out from the compact seive to the shower spray bar. Andy (Emmaandaj) did this on his GOP for a while, worth chatting with Andy see if he...

Re: Fibreglassing/flowcoat waterfall problem, advice please

Hi Matt, Please read what I've written again if you dont mind. I've not advised him to heat uncured resin, or advised to wait until flocoat has nearly hardedned. What I have advised him to do is to warm the area before applying resin. And also to wait for the resin to start to harden off before appl...

Re: Fibreglassing/flowcoat waterfall problem, advice please

Problems like this are fun to resolve! What I would do is this: 1. Mix up some very strong resin/catalyst mix, something like 10%. You wont need much though, just enough to paint onto the affected area. 2. Get a hot air paint stipper gun, or if you dont have one just use a hot hair dryer. Heat the a...

Re: Fibreglassing/flowcoat waterfall problem, advice please

Steve, As long as the waterfall fibreglass has now dried out, you should have no problems. If it has plenty of matting in there, just ensure the flow coat is well rubbed down with some very rough sandpaper (60/80 grit) and then apply another coat of resin first. This will seal any holes in it and yo...
