Hi Jason I think your right regarding the depth, having discussed my ideas with others, I am going to aim for a total excavated depth of 9ft, which should give me an actual depth of 8.5 ft. I will also remove the existing coping stones and replace with a finish brick, this will not be part of the po...

Mist a view points raised. Viewing the koi at depth, doesn’t really bother me, so long as I can see them at say 7-8 feet and of course when they feed, to check for fish health. Skimmers, I already have 3000 galls an hour going through my skimmer, food is kept away from skimmer via 2 200mm air...

Hi Folks Many thanks for the reply's. The reason for enlarging my pond, is that my collection has outgrown theit habitat. The past 5 years have been spent amassing my collection and improving the filtration and turnover and I must confess that, before I went to Japan, I was happy with my current set...

Hi Tom Yep 12,000 galls an hour. Regarding dirty water over showers - my current system sends 3000 galls straight from my skimmer, so there is an element of dirty water already. My saving grace is using K1 as static, have around 6000 galls an hour running through my existing system all of which pass...

Improving my pond
Well having returned from Japan, I have decided to have far less fish in as much water as I can achieve within my current pond footprint. My existing pond is just over 20 tons ( 4400 - 4500 galls ) and around 5 ft deep. Question 1, would anyone consider a 10ft deep pond. My thoughts are that with mo...

Hi Bob Yeah I agree that trickle and shower are two different issues. I went on to Cold Water Collection web site and they claim you can chuck 4000 galls over the shower, so one would assume that the media is suitable. I have also had the pleasure of going over the filtration down at the Barn, where...

New Shower
Hi Folks Thought I would fit the shower I won at the national raffle. So now the bottom tank, has a beadmaster and the shower. Total flow within the 500 gall tank, works out about 4000 galls an hour and the fish seem to love it :D :D I have positioned the return about a foot down, so the fish have a...

Hi Andy Forget the timber idea    ( it would probably cost more than brickwork anyway. ) 150mm concrete base Bring it up in 100mm block work and backfill with concrete, once you are 225 away from finished ground level, bring the rest up in 225mm Aerated bottom drain Skimmer Nexu...

Heating you pond via an existing combination boiler
Heating your pond using your existing combination boiler. Firstly if your existing combi needs to be 240 volt throughout, some early combi boilers have low voltage external controls, which will not be suitable for pond use. All combination boilers have hot water override so whilst your radiators, o...
