But does it really matter as long as the K1 is in motion? Well, I tend to find that if air isn't coming out of the pipe from pretty much all the holes, then the K1 will not fully agitate, and you tend to get one side fluidising really well, but the other not. So I always try and get an equal distri...

Hi,

Yeh, make sure you PLAN PLAN PLAN, If circumstances allow, spend the winter planning, gathering info and designing, redesigning and altering your plans.

It will pay off in the long run.

Will be interesting to follow the build progress!

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi, That would be a great size pond and should be great. For that size pond I would go for: 6ft Deep throughout - Maximises water volume 2x Aerated Bottom drains (each with 80 or even 120 lpm of air if diffuser allows) Filtration - depends of budget, please ensure you build a pond that you can affor...

Hi, Looks like a great Job, well done! With K1, I have found that a few bits of K1 squash up and end up crushed, so will fit through smaller holes. I don't know if my K1 is a cheaper version, but it looks exactly the same as normal K1 with 4 "spokes" inside. I don't know if anyone else has...

Hi,

Well it definately seems as though they work for some people but not others, in the end we all find our own methods that work best for our pond.

Hi, The thing with block filters is that they work really well when you get them right. There are a few things that you must try and work into the filter. 1) A long settlement area. 2) Large transfer ports to minimise head loss, and only have 1 set of these, between settlement and Biomedia. 3) Stati...

Hi,

I know if you are using BHM in the shower you can pump directly from the bottom drain to the shower, although I don't know if the same can be said if using other shower medias.

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi,

Sound good to me, sorry can't advise on the shower flow rate other than I know they need a decent flow rate (vague I know).

Will the bottom drain be aerated?

Hope all goes well with the build, then you can have your fishes back :D :D :D !

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi,

What a great idea, and looks really neat. That should also reduce the amount of chilling from the showers!

Great job.

Hi, Does the tank have a bottom drain? If not could you fit one to it? Or use a retrofit bottom drain. You might be able to pump direct from drain to shower, or have some sort of mechanical filtration first e.g. static K1 or a gravity fed sieve. Once you've got the tank, post some piccies, might hel...

Hi,

Thats not bad at all on the heat loss, and as you say, if you sheild it from wind/ air then wind chill on the showers should be less.

Thanks,

Hi, Read on Yume Koi and Tewa's Koi I think all the ponds that have showers and all the benefits, which seem amazing. People do say that they really do cool the water, and thats what puts people off installing them, as well as the high flow rates required. DO you find they really chill the water? Th...
