Re: koiquest forum

Still look in mate, would be a las to the koi community f this was read only, especially when I read some of the garbage on other forums and Facebook pages which seem to be mad keen on wheat germ, salting ponds and mfg for every koi ailment going.

Re: What protocol to follow

Any idea why I might keep getting dropsy mate. All water parameters are good and no. Other health problems at all. Had 3fish go down it this year and struggling to understand why.

What protocol to follow

Hi Duncan, in a bit of a quandary mate. Got a Ai Goromo in the pond which is suffering from dropsy ( had 2 go down with it already this year but had no other problems, ulcers, fin rot.... Re: to seal or not to seal

Will have to change my protocol based on that Duncan. Have always treated with C/T on the same day. Would this be the same with salt. My feeling is no because as well as reducing bacterial load it's main function is to maintain osmotic balance and reduce stress

Re: neutering koi

Got to agree with Manky. Putting a pet at risk by inflicting MAJOR surgery upon it in order to achieve a cosmetic improvement just seems totally unethical and immoral. It's not the same as removing shimmies etc

Glenn, didn't know you were such an expert on chickens, a man of many talents. ;-)
Jack Russell's are just brilliant, good catchers and dispatched in seconds...more humane than traps or poison IMHO.

Annette, still got the leopardskn emery board you sent me years ago, still in it's sellophane wrapper. Can't remember if that was through koi quest or koi chat. Remember one post where you got slated by an ex cop for walking your dog. I stuck up for you and the PM I got from him will last in my memo...

Re: peroxide and PP yet again

Best practice, buy an ORPmeter and keep t at 450mv for 4 hours then you should not need anything else. Guys if you haven't got t then get Duncan's book which explains the whole process perfectly. In the long run it will save you a fortune in un needed chemicals and also by keeping your koi healthy.

Re: koi consuming their eggs

Really interesting read Duncan and exposes many of the myths surrounding this subject. However there is one thing which does confuse me wrt egg production in koi. If a fully mature female does not have the correct triggers, ie daylight hours, temperature, male stimulus etc and hence no spawning what...
