Think you've answered your own question Norfy!
Even the digital meters still require test tubes and reagents......just give you a more accurate reading!

Re: A Question for you Sparkies!
Bob, Yes sealed means waterproof. Spec says they are IP66 ie dust and water tight (but not submerged!) About the best you'll get without going really special and certainly good enough for what your suggesting. NB: IP66 definition: first numeral 6 = "Totally protected against dust " second ...

Re: Victim of my own tinkering?
At last! a theory. Thanks Bob. Yeah I checked all parameters again at the weekend and as usual Ammonia & Nitrite = not registering (Palin test). Nitrate as usual around 25mg/l. Pond is now a real soup although not really green....more grey and murky (visibility about 8"). I don't ever remen...

Re: filtration set up
Alan, There are many theories on here regarding best filtration, cycle times, dwell times etc. I personally subscribe to the "no such thing as too much filtration" and the "highest possible turnover rate" theories. Two b/d will certainly help with circulation and reduce any build...

Re: A Question for you Sparkies!
Quite right Martin, a 12v supply would be required both for the PCB and for the power relay coil. Sorry Bob, thought you'd infer this from the earlier post. A std 12v "wall wart" type transformer will be ok. You'll also need an enclosure (box) or boxes to put it all in. I accept that this ...

Good luck Bob!
Let me know if you have any questions.......and don't forget - be careful when playing with the mains. Test the low voltage circuits properly before connecting the pump!

Re: A Question for you Sparkies!
Hi Bob, I've given your project a bit more thought. I would suggest you'd need something like this relay to control the mains power to your pump: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=37495&C=Maplin&U=SearchTop&T=relay&doy=7m7 This relay needs to be controlled via a timer circ...

Re: Victim of my own tinkering?
Hi Jules, Thanks for the feedback. I didn't want to get into a debate about filter cleaning, I guess everyone has their own routine. I clean daily for the following reasons: a. It's very quick & easy since I converted to K1 - I can usually do it in about 10 mins whilst feeding and watching the f...

I'll get some details together over the weekend. How long do you want the delay?

Victim of my own tinkering?
Opinions please. Converted my two large vortex filers to K1 about 3 summers ago through the help of this forum and have had crystal clear water and stable parameters ever since. However, I always thought there was room for more fluidised K1 in the second unit so took advantage of a bargin offer at t...

Re: A Question for you Sparkies!
Oooops! Sorry Bob, I have re-read the spec and now I don't think it will do what you are asking. There are a number of ways of achieving your goal but most include the use of complicated control hardware. The easiest way would to be to use a SPDT relay (Single pole, double throw). You would still ne...
