Re: Pond filling

4000 gal is approx 18,180 litres, 1000 litres to a cubic metre, therefore 18.18 cubic metres, but that would be for perfectly compacted ground with no air holes, voids etc, I would suggest that you start with around 12 cube and compact in layers of around 250 - 300mm (10" - 12") to avoid t...

Paul, He said that he could not see why laminated was reqiured (look at large fish tanks, they are only plate glass including the London Aquirium I believe), plate glass of 15mm thickness and above is extremly strong and would withstand a fairly hefty hit with a hammer. In addition hw thought that i...

Having spoken to a guy who manufactures glazed canopys for use in the construction industry, he suggested that 15mm plate glass would be more than adeqoute for a window of approx. 1500mm x 900mm, with ground or polished edges. He did not agree that laminated glass was the best solution. Has anyone g...

Thanks for the replies guys, all good info. Sand filters I think are pretty much for polishing only, so would obviuosly need excellent mechanical filtering prior to the unit. As for bead filters or K1 type arrangements I guess there is good and bad for both. The K1 is a bit more "hand on" ...

Easy (With K1) V Sand Filter V Bead Filter

Judging by the majority of threads I think most people are happy with using K1 in a varity of filters, but can anyone give me some advice on how they compare with either sand or bead filters. I appreciate that with the later varities, you would have to make sure you have good pre cleaning of the wat...

By all means use it as an addition to your existing filters but do not depend on this for your main filtration. It depends on how much you are being asked to pay for this unit, as the mony may be better off spent on someting like a Nexus Easy ?? I had a Biotec 10 for a 9,000l pond and found it woefu...

Just a few comments that may help. I can't tell from the photo but I assume that your neighbours garden is level with yours, if so, you should ask him the last time he saw water running up hill ?? If you was to get a leak or even a complete failure of your concrete base and blockwork, I would have t...
