Re: observation tower

I don't like these would rather have a window plus it would need to be pretty big to fit some of our Koi in  I was not keen on the dome ether http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gk7rTn8D9bY&feature=related Horses for courses really. If you can't put a window in, want an unusual view & IF yo...

Re: observation tower

http://youtu.be/EQ5QLxjl57M Looks like the guy sites the tank, propped up on legs of some sort ( maybe silicone sealant onto rocks?) to allow the fish in. he then tapes a pop bottle to the end of his vac hose & starts pumping the air out. What I like about this over the koi dome is that even if ...

observation tower

I know I've not been around for many a year - sadly my babies were all taken & all I had left were a few goldfish. But anyways, I saw this video and thought you guys might appreciate me sharing. It's really a koi version of the fish bridge sold for tanks. A great way to view your babies & so...

My pond is all wood construction. I used 3 sheets of 8x4 wbp ply (25mm thick) and made three frames of 3 x 4 timbers all overlapping at the corners so bolted together. The ply is screwed to the frame from the inside & the heads are recessed so no sharp edges. The pond measures 8' long, 4' wide a...

I didn't want to make a TT out of stacking boxes as the top would be far too high off the ground on my setup. After seeing all the hard work here, I wondered about buying a few of these... Just looking for something else & came across this thread again. Thought I'd mention my next foray into the world of trickle towers, I've managed to (cough) acquire four of those trays (as per your OP Gerry) which I'm hoping will do the business - already holed in the bottom, hoping the holes in...

I was looking for the ideal box to contain my media. I had some solid stacking jobbies but with the pond being above ground, the water would need to be pumped to a height of 8' - so not ideal. i managed to get hold of some shallow supermarket trays (the ones with the metal bars at either end which f...

pardon my iggrance but why do you need a water return pipe at all?
I thought the idea of this contraption was simply to catch the bubbles as they come off the top of the water?

Last time I took a video, I put the camera into a T3sco lock/seal sandwich bag & a few of the fish came around & actually took an interest.

Yes, don't know why they're being so shy.
And all them bits suspended, you can't really see them from above.
I need to have a serious clearout of the weed & try to get rid of the thread algae.
Also looks like I need to break out the old pondvac to give the bottom a bit of a hoover as well.

http://media.putfile.com/new-camera-and-bag OK, not exactly Jacques Custeau but I had to guess at what I was pointing the camera towards (had to crop it a bit to fit the upload site as well). Made me realise the thread algae was worse than I thought & I need to get to work on clearing...
