Re: Well one step closer

John, didn't have any buckets go off on me. once i got a rhythm going pouring out 3 buckets of 2 litres at a go and then mixing them one at a time i found it quite easy. did have a scare with the flowcoat gelling off as i was using it. thought it best to dump that mix and add a bit less catalist to ...

well here goes the math. 1 layer 32 sq/mtr 600g csm and then tissue on top as i went round which equates to about 20 kilo of cloth and 2 kilo of tissue i used just over 60 kilo of resin. so yes its about 3 times the weight of cloth to resin. as for seeing the blocks, yes you can but the photo does e...

Re: Well one step closer

Bob, took a leaf out of Mark at cuttlebrooks book. when the pond was built i took care to make sure the cement between the blocks was flat. this gave me a pretty good surface to glass on to. As per "GRPJohn"'s instructions it used 2.5 times the weight of glass in resin.if that makes sence....

great idea with the "T" pieces. itll make it very easy to clean out the bottomdrain pipe work without having to poke anything through the vortex.

i'm sure this is/was a method used years and years ago...
and i bet it saved you quite a few quid in the process.. :P

i think you will find that the black version that pisces-aqua sell has been around for a good few years in the fish trade and water treatment trade. longer than "K1". the cost difference is probably due to the fact black is cheaper to produce than white. have a look on ebay there are a few...

if we are taking the 12foot lenght as being the weak point then this is what i think. with making it out of wood then no matter how it was made then without a brace across the top of the 12 foot lenght it will bow outwards. wood is funny stuff, yes its strong but if you apply constant pressure to it...

well what can i say. fibreglass when its made properly is mostly glass and very little polyester resin, so its vey tough and will blunt a normal toolsteel drill bit or holesaw very quickly. as with anything in the world there are different ways of doing things and drilling holes is one of them. if y...
