Hi all Well what can I say I was hoping for a simplified explanation of orp? But it seems to be getting more complicated Duncan you mention many ponds that you visit all with different orp readings. All of these ponds will have different filtrations, some will rely on bacterial activity some will be...

Feeling really rough but you deserve an answer Chi. I think we all know how your pond is kept so we don’t have to go into any detail. Your summer readings are showing how hard your filter is working by producing 8 to 11 ppm co2 (so much for gassing off) The co2 brings your ph down combined wi...

Thanks again for all this information I can appreciate these weren’t done in 5 minutes. I also appreciate that the meter readings are not godsend But again it is very complex and I can understand why people put the meters away or don’t even bother getting them not knowing the benefits ...

Graham I think I see where you’re coming from.
Which reflects how we perceive orp.
a. A high orp is a measurement of how clean the water is.
b. A high orp is the waters ability to keep itself clean.
Two similar answers but with different meanings.

Wow firstly thanks for thee great response. I rushed this post of before going to work and not really meaning to put most of the emphasis on orp but to encourage a topic on how and why all the other parameters ph, kh,co2,o2, have an influence on the reading. Been having a great chat with graham thes...

And the same to you Scott.
What happened after you scraped half the pond did it reattach?
And out of interest the ph 8-8.4 is that a daily reading or a general reading?

Your rights Scott don’t know what I was thinking of there. Cheers gazza. Any way if there’s not enough room in the pond, I have loads of room in mine. Bob have you checked the nitrate, if its not being gassed of by the shower could be responsible for a large amount of def...

Scott it says on the packet minerals and enzymes, looks and acts remarkably like clay.
A good tool for uncontrollable weed.
But here’s hoping for the fine carpet with all the inhabitants that come with it.

Coming down nicely bob. I was going to suggest asking dunken if he puts clay in the food, but that would have caused a rise in the ponds GH reading. But even that’s down on the input water. So I guess that’s a no no. You have convinced me I will have to get a replacement. Over stocked ...

Hi Scott I used blanket answer at half dose about 3 months ago which eradicated the weed. This left bare liner or the brown coating. A couple of weeks ago I noticed green starting to appear on the liner there was no length to it and still isn’t but it does seem to be spreading .the brown is c...
