Re: How long?
Hi Duncan, Sorry for delay in responding, but we've just returned from two weeks away on holidays. Unfortunately, I lost the battle to save my precious Momotaro Showa. I carried out a series of large water changes and reverted to praziquantel as the FX1 was taking too long to take effect. Initially,...

How long?
Hi, Hopefully, Duncan will see this post and be able to offer some advice. The koi have been plagued by gill flukes, trichodina and costia. Two weeks ago, I successfully treated the trichodina with the standard dose of pp. Last weekend, I used praziquantel and m&f combined against the flukes and...

Re: ICC Dilemma
Hi Drakoi,
I haven't used salt and I don't have any and I don't know where I would get enough to dose a 5,500 gallon pond this side of the weekend so using salt in the short term isn't an option.
Cheers,
Mark

Re: ICC Dilemma
Hi Duncan, Thanks for getting back to me. No, I didn't use salt. I know you advised that ICC works better with salt, but I didn't realise it would make a significant difference to its efficacy. I don't currently have any salt so if I continue with the ICC treatment it will be without salt. If I reve...

ICC Dilemma
Hi Duncan, After two doses of ICC, one of my best kohaku has now risen to the surface of the pond and isolated itself in the corner. I've scraped the fish and the costia appear to have multiplied out of all proportion. Do I carry on with the ICC or do I resort to m & f to try to save the fish wi...

Re: Praziquantel and ICC
Des,
Thanks for the encouragement. Fingers crossed I can gain some much needed respite from the little so and so's! They've been plaguing the koi for months.
Cheers,
Mark

Praziquantel and ICC
Hi Duncan, Can I use Praziquantel and ICC together? Fish are riddled with flukes and costia again! Previously used Praziquantel and m&f sequentially, but obviously didn't do the trick. I've put the Praziquantel in tonight as I'm thinking the costia probably followed the flukes being the more opp...

ICC
Hi Duncan,
Is ICC a new treatment for costia? If so, what is the dose rate and how do you use it? Does it affect the biological side of the filters? I'm currently using m & f, but the costia keep coming back.
Many thanks,
Mark

Re: new gels
Hi Duncan,
Is it the One touch Oxy you are referring to above that contains the antibiotic ? I have a kohaku with a few infected scales adjacent to its pectoral fin following a costia and flukes problem.
Many thanks,
Mark

Re: Which Air pump ?
Hi Steve, As Steve says, smaller Secohs are very reliable, but I've not tried them at any real depth. They are situated in my filters. However, I've found that larger Secohs (EL 60 & EL100) cannot cope with any depth beyond about 1.5m and simply blow the diaphragms. If you speak to Bibus they wi...

Re: secoh 80 air pump repair
Yip, Don't give up on them just yet. Secoh pumps have a cut out device that operates if the diaphragms split or the pump becomes too hot because of other reasons such as operating above their normal pressure due to blockages, etc. The cut out device is situated between the two magnets and needs to b...
