Well i have been out to the pond today and all water levels have remained the same so it looks like the repair has done the trick...Gonna start the filter when i get back from hols....

Lets hope so Lee..gonna check water levels tomorrow and if all isok then its time to start doing the interesting things like the pipework.... :wink:

Right then back to the build..... After shall we say a small hiccup when the bottom drain pipework snapped away from the drain... :oops: I set about the repair by firstly using goldlabel and then fibreglassing over the outside of the drain to add extra strength.. sorry no pics of the glassing as i d...

If i remember right i'm sure Gazza's pond has a falt bottom and he has no trouble. Mine is flat also.

I had a similar size quarantine and use to use a 1KW profi heater, the thermostat was out slightly but i could control different temps..

Glad this post came about or i could have seen me doing the filter twice....

I have just bought a 16mm holesaw as i am going to take the airpipe in from the side of the filter to make it look neater.. :wink:

Hello Bob. Just wanted to revive this post as i might do a little bit on the filter the weekend.. Have you noticed an improvement in the removal of crud since the change..? Also, would you recommend adding holes to the sides of the speedfit pipe as well as on the top so as it forces the air sideward...
