Re: Tumour? Cyst?
I agree, I think lots of people probably have Koi die for what ever reason. But not everyone has the stomach to actually cut one open. We had suspected she just couldn't part with her eggs. Not for want of us trying, but being a little in experienced I didn't know what I was feeling when we anaestht...

Re: Tumour? Cyst?
Thanks Duncan,
Not nice to see, but we know why now. Glad it doesn't happen too often. Have some other nice female koi in our pond.
Again thanks though.

Re: Trich.
Did you get rid of the Trich.
In 2008 I had a very bad strain, it took 4 doses of PP every third day to get rid. Harsh treatment, but it worked in the end.

Re: Tumour? Cyst?
Sometimes its hard when you're not sure what you are seeing, so people tend not to reply. Thank you for that. Much appreciated. :) I want people to see, so that everyone can learn, we don't learn if we don't post or ask... And if pictures scare us, then shame... Just wondering what the real problem ...

Tumour? Cyst?
PLEASE DO NOT LOOK AT THESE PICTURES IF YOU ARE SQUEEMISH I was just wondering if you might be able to aid me in diagnosing the recent death of a Koi. Our 5 year old Shusui female. Always been a big fish. But this year, went massive, tried everything to get her to spawn and nothing. So we presume p...

Re: koi dying
Problem is now there is salt in the pond what if you have White Spot, and need to use Machalite and Formalin. Or Costia... You should really never treat unless you know what it is you are treating for. Salt is good for some things, but not in a main pond. Let us know what the scrape said, and maybe ...

Re: K.H & G.H. and the effects on koi
With a KH of only 1 aren't you risking high ph swings?
My kh dropped from 6 to 2 from my supply water and I had my ph swing from 7 to 10!!!!! my fish were trying to jump out and I don't blame them.

Re: now i have flukes !
Oh hun, I really feel for you. While you're trying to get rid of the killer (costia) you've given the flukes time to kick butt too. In my mind I'm not sure which is worse. I have known a few people treat with FMG and had no luck against Costia. For me, I had no choice but to PP mine, as I had salt i...

Re: Temp preferences for heated ponds
Hi there, For my main pond through the winter we normally try and heat to 12 degrees. I was always told that was good for their immune system. But with the weather being as rough as it has been the last two winters and having to heat my baby tank last year. I ran it to 12d and then dropped it to 8. ...
