Re: heating costs

Be carefull, you've obviously checked on oil prices at the moment and yes it's not a bad price, but, they have just come down. If you go back to just before Christmas you find you would have payed an extra 13p a litre. Gas is pretty much a constant price all year round, oil i'm afraid is not, demand...

Re: pergola

Hi

as far as i'm aware the only fish safe sadolin is Classic, i wrote to them and they confirmed it's ok to use, but, to be on the safe side i treated all my decking over the filter with classic, let it dry for two weeks then fitted.

Cheers, pete

Re: Bead or sand filter

Cheers you lot, you've saved me a fortune hopefully, was thinking about adding some thick wool in the centre of the eazy pod, after the K1 between the cage and the outlet, at the end of the day if blocks at all it will still flow out over the top channels and into the outlet pipe anyway. me thinks m...

Re: Bead or sand filter

Bead or sand filter

Hi This year i don't seem to be able to get the pond as clear as i would like, eleven fish in pond with loads of filtration, 4 bay filter with 15 brushes in first bay and 120ltrs of static K1 in second, also running eazy pod on skimmer line. feeding 100 grams of food a day and regular 100 gallon wat...

Re: Electric shocks.

May sound silly, but are you touching anything else with any part of your body when you put your finger in the pod, or are you standing on a different floor material?
Are you sure the circuit is protected by RCD, some consumer units are split and the RCD does not cover all circuit?

Bit of DIY on new skimmer set up

Been a busy boy of late finishing the new skimmer set up. I tried recently to sell my multibay, unsuccessfully, and change to a nexus 200. as this didnt happen i decided to change the skimmer line. Was very carefull cutting in new tank connecters in blockwork, 1 for return and 1 for overflow but man...

Re: Any good? your thoughts please

The 4" through the wall is only about 18" down from the pond surface (was only ever going to be return) , i may be able to use 45* swept bends but i will definately need these as the filter will be a lot lower than the 4" pipe through the wall. Not sure about the bottom drain upside d...

Re: Any good? your thoughts please

My thought on this is it's only 8ft across at deepest part of pond and running a 12000 pump i would have thought it would pull most of the cr*p across, if i lay a pipe across the bottom there will always be a certain amount of muck that will get trapped under it, where as if the pipe comes straight ...

Re: Any good? your thoughts please

Hi Herbie Unfortunately the 4" through the pond wall is already in there from last year when i built the pond out of the ground, because of this i may not have any choice as i need to get water levels right. I reckon i can prob use 45* swept bends as the pipe run will be 7ft in lenght, again no...

Any good? your thoughts please

At the moment i'm running a pump fed system but wish to change. It's way to late for me to fit a bottom drain (dont even go there) but am looking to change filter to a nexus. I have a 4" return to the pond at the moment but would like to use this as a feed line, below is a diagram of my idear. ...

Re: Fish paint

Hi Phil

I went to there website and asked the question "is it safe". If you have any doubts i suggest you do the same, it will come straight from the horses mouth. Tanalised decking is fine as long as you seal it with classic stain.
