Hi all I have a Yamitsu 30w and it has been running a 55w tube for the last 2 years with no problems
it switches on immediately and has kept me algae free
the tubes are the the same length

Hi I used one of these when I was pump fed [url=http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/float-switch-230v-2m-cable/path/hoses-couplers-valves-filters] Float Switch [/url] you can set it to what ever height you want the pump to turn of at and they are very easy to install and only £11.7...

Hi Stu one thing to watch for is wheelie bins are made of recycled plastic and may leach toxins into your water m8

Hi Dave not a prob m8 the only reason I knew of them is I got caught out 3 years ago with a split pipe left with 12" of water in the pond :(

luckily no losses
but from then on in any pump fed pond gets a float switch

Hi All you will possibly find that new K1 is too bouyant at first once it starts maturing it will gain a little weight and boil a lot easier

When ever I get a spike of Nitrite instead of feeding 8 times a day I sometimes cut it down to 2 or 3 feeds a day and once the nitrite drops I start gradually building the feed back up you also have to take into account the weather at the moment temperature plays a big part of the nitrification cycl...

Hi Louie the best thing you can do is get your own water test kit and check the water yourself that way you can act quicker on problems i.e. water changes to dilute out the ammonia etc but don't do major water changes no more than 10% at a time as for the wriggly things in your filter they are midge...
