For Sale. 28" Jap Olive Chagoi

koi sale1.jpg Hi all, Have finally decided to call it a day after a load more problems with a bead filter that keeps splitting. You can only replace it so many times before the cost gets prohibitive! None of my fish are special enough to list on here with the exception of my Olive Chagoi. 6 years o...

Advanced Koi Diagnosis & Treatments

Hi, Looks like the pond will be going soon so I'm beginning to get shot of some of the stuff that I can do without now. Here is a 1st edition copy of Duncan's book on koi treatment. In very good condition, this is a "must have" for all koi keepers. £25 inc postage. Take a look here: http:/...

Re: People do not understand

Most of my fish have names and they all have their own character traits and personalities. I know a lot of people don't name their fish and consider it a bit strange that others do, but each to their own. I lost 16 koi this year (yep, it was that bad) but managed to save all my favourites, mostly th...

How long without food?

Hi all, Off on my hols on Sunday. I gave a feed on Wednesday this week, but have now stopped. Will give the filters (Easy Pod and Elecro bead filter) a good cleaning on Saturday which will hopefully mean that with the lack of food they should remain clear enough to run until I get back in two weeks....

Re: Wound Treatment Help Needed.

Wow, that's impressive. :) Did it have ab's as well, or wasn't it bacterial?

Re: Wound Treatment Help Needed.

Thanks Duncan. :D I'll be a little more confident next time it comes out, and will probably feel better about cutting away any more dead flesh. I can already see a few strips coming loose as it swims. Will be ordering some more of your stuff too for treatment. Will every third day be a decent period...

Re: Wound Treatment Help Needed.

Ok. Got all the gear out on the side of the pond just now and tried my best to clean this wound up. I'm pretty sure that some of the stuff that I've left behind may need to be cut out, but this was a start and I've not had to get this involved with treating a wound before. The idea was to treat with...

Re: Wound Treatment Help Needed.

Duncan, I've ordered some mercurochrome from you to treat this with. I didn't order the sealer just yet as I went out earlier today and bought a bottle of 40% propolis. I doubt it's anything likea as good as yours, but it cost £20 for 60ml so I'll give it a shot. Will send a pic after I've cleaned u...

Re: Wound Treatment Help Needed.

Thanks again Duncan. I shall use the betadine if I can get hold of any and I will make do with friars balsam for the next session. How do I get hold of your sealant please as I would definitely like some? On another note, and I expect the answer has already been addressed on this forum somewhere, ho...

Re: Wound Treatment Help Needed.

Thanks very much Duncan. I shall try and get hold of some mercurochrome tomorrow from my local koi specialist. Is there any particular brand or make of a betadine topical application that I should try and use failing the betadine? And any preference for a wound sealant? This is the most advanced wou...

Wound Treatment Help Needed.

PICT0002.jpg Hi all, This is a large fish that has been having treatment for a bacterial infection. Has had 4 antibiotic injections (not sure what type it was) over a two month period but healing just isn't happening. The wound is gradually getting larger and is also increasing in depth. I have a s...

Re: Requirements for raising fry?

Thanks Duncan,

Not as simple as I had perhaps hoped for!
I think I'll leave it to the professionals then.

Requirements for raising fry?

Hi, I've seen a lot of koi fry for sale this summer and wouldn't mind having a go and bringing some on. Can anyone tell me what the minimum requirements would be for doing this, in terms of size and kind of "home" for them, temps and food? Also the kind of filtration they would need, aerat...
