Re: More Information from Investigation of KHV
I think from what I see is that KHV is becoming spread through the natural progression of a disease adapting. I believe there is latent presence of the virus in more fish that we are aware of to date. I think this is just one more thing we will have to watch for in buying new koi and emphasizes the ...

Re: More Information from Investigation of KHV
I have recently received some information referencing a study of environmental-organic places where the virus may be found in concentrations. Not sure what it all means and I post it for your consideration. It is just one of what I have found is a long string of studies completed or in progress arou...

I recently received a pdf copy of another study into KHV. I have posted the abstract here along with a link that will take one to the complete report. Please note the copywrite statement in bold below that permits distribution with acknowledgement. I have posted only the Abstract as the entire repor...

Re: Egg Bound Fish - Can "Spawn" be Induced?
As I had feared, I had waited too long to intervene with treatment. I finally recovered enough from my back spasm to get out to the pond last night just after sun down as day time temps have been around 100 F with humidity in the 25% to 30% range. Found the fish floating. Not too happy with myself r...

Re: Egg Bound Fish - Can "Spawn" be Induced?
Hi Dunc, I threw my back out Tuesday trying to net and weight the koi. Have been flat on the bed or floor since. Even with muscle relaxers it has been a bit rough. Today is the first day I have been able to sit upright. I will be going out to the pond later to check on things. Not sure when I will b...

Re: Egg Bound Fish - Can "Spawn" be Induced?
Hi Duncan,
I will try and net it today. But not sure if my back will stand the stress. Still recovering from "throwing it out" last week. If I can do the job I will get a weight on it for you.

Egg Bound Fish - Can "Spawn" be Induced?
Hi All,
I have a large Ochiba that has apparently become egg bound. I have had other egg bound fish in the past eventually die. I would like to save this fish if possible. Is there a method to induce release of the eggs or can it be safely stripped under sedation?

Report on KHV Study by Oregon State University
Hi All, I have copied an article appearing in the July/August 2011 KOI USA magazine. It was written by Raymond Jordan, chair of the Project KHV Committee of which I am a member. It is reproduced here as it appeared with the following changes: 2 pictures were removed and the last part of the side bar...
